Located just outside of Wailuku, Io Valley is spectacular.
It was the site of the last major Hawaiian battle of conquest where so many died that the stream ran red with blood. Today that is hard to believe the place is so quiet and peaceful. Â
The valley points up to the Io Needle and the second wettest place on earth, the West Maui mountain where about 400 inches fall each year.
There is a newly remodeled visitor’s center and nearby a lovely Hawaiian garden.View Larger Map
