In late October each year, the week after the Ironman is held on the Big Island of Hawaii the world’s greatest athletes fed from local, regional and national champships compete in the Xterra World Championships. They swim in the open ocean for 1.5 kilometers, mountain bike for 26 and the run. The location is usually in south Maui. Here are some pictures from the 2003 competition.
