It is a thrill to get up early in the morning, take a drive up the dorment volcano known as Haleakaia, watch the sunrise over the “House of the Sun” and perhaps hop onto a bicycle and coast back down the mountain!

There are lots of “outfitters” who will pick you up from your place and provide all the equipment and directions you will need.

Note:  It can be quite cool at sunrise.  Bring a jacket!  Remember sunscreen!  You are 10,000 feet closer to the tropical sun with less than 1/2 the atmosphere to protect your precious skin from getting burned!
