Since buying Maui Mana Kai #215 in February, 2001, I have received a number of comments some of which I lost and the rest are displayed below under the “Comments” link. When you stay, please leave your comments. Good or bad. What you like or don’t like.

Dear Dave,
Just a short note to thank you for letting us rent your place last week. We took good care of the place and hope to return ASAP! We were really impressed by your wonderful piece paradise. You’ve done a great job!
Best Regards,

Aloha, David,
The trip was great and so were the facilities. Never did use the water toys, though it was nice to know they were there. After doing considerable driving around the island, we concluded that the Mana Kai is in the best possible location—drove up to Kaanapali one day and it was raining!
Thanks for providing such a great place.
Thanks again

David,
I know it’s been a while, but we just wanted to thank you for everything you did for us to make our stay in Maui an incredible one. The room at the Mana
Kai was absolutely fabulous and we are still telling our friends and family about it. I must say that you were right about the breeze and how we wouldn’t need any air conditioning. We pretty much left the large balcony doors wide open the entire time we were there. Falling asleep and waking up to the ocean is still fresh and vivid in my mind as the most relaxing feeling and it still calms me when I close my eyes and remember it. The camera was also fun because we could wave to our friends and make them a little jealous, ok, a lot jealous. We look forward to returning some day,
but it will never be soon enough.
Thanks Again,
Wendy and Jamie

this is waaayyyy better than the Grand Wailea (as far as I’m concerned, when it comes to a REAL vacation!). And, it’s better to come more often than spend all that extra wasted money!
mm
we stayed in your unit 215 a couple years ago and loved it.
thanks,
nad

I am counting until I can go back to the Mana Kai. I would never stay anywhere else. Ive never stayed in your place but never the less its the best. The only problem is how much they charge for everything down at the store. -Keenan

Currently statying in another unit at MKM, should of booked 215. We will try it next time around. Current unit hasn’t been updated for 20 years. Book 215 or get up to date pictures before booking another room here.

we are enjoying your condo. the view is everything and more than what we expected. the updating you have done makes it very comfortable. but the feature of having the computer on line and ready to go has been the greatest. i can check on all my business conveniently from here, my son is a computer tech in seattle, so it has been a godsend for him. we can read the kalispell, montana newspaper

We stayed at 215 Mana Kai last November. We very much enjoyed our stay. I also very appreciated the wireless access. I can relate to the ‘office on the beach’ comments in some of the other blogs.
As far as the webcam goes, thank you for providing it. It is nice to go out there once in a while, and remember the view from the balcony. We also had some fun with it, as I had a friend on the phone, and he didn’t believe I was in Hawaii. I stood in front of the webcam and told him the address to type into the browser.
!!Fun stuff!!
Hopefully we will be returning to 215 Mana Kai in the near future. Lord willing, it will be this year!

David,
This note is long overdue. Loren and I enjoyed the accommodations at Maui Mana Kai 215 in June for our first trip to Hawaii. Thank you so much for making this delightful location available to us. Everything was perfect. The room was spacious and very comfortable. You did a great job of decorating it and thinking of everything a traveler would need. We would not hesitate to return and would recommend your condo to family and friends.
Sincerely,
Eva and Loren

Thank You David for the fantastic Wedding/Honeymoon vacation at Maui Mana Kai during 12/2/2004 – 12/7/2004. We loved the accommodations. In Green Bay Wisconsin, it is cold and snowy. Mark and I think about our vacation every day since we have been back. We plan to bring the kids down to Maui and stay at the Maui Mana Kai soon.
Thank You
Kathy and Mark

David,
Thank you for your assistance. I booked with AAO, and might add they were very nice to deal with, accomodating, have a fair cancellation policy and proper rates. I spent a lot of years in the airline business (marketing/sales), so am kind of cautious of whom I deal with. The wife and I come over usaully every year for a couple of weeks, and every couple of years bring the children and grandchildren over with us. We enjoy the property and it’s location, and are not much for the Resort ammenities. My daughter is Admin. Asst. to the VP of Marketing for the Grand Wialea. We can stay there for around 25% of the rack rate, but honestly would rather stay at the Mana Kai. I will keep your contact info when next we come over to see if your unit is available.
Again, thank you,
Ken

In the 10 years I have been renting out 215 Mana Kai Maui to over 500 groups of people, I have received 3 negative comments… but none of them have posted here.
One was from a honeymooning couple who insisted on air conditioning that is really not necessary since you are right on the water. They wanted to hang out inside during the hotest part of the day from 2 PM to 5 PM with the doors CLOSED! thus not allowing the cooling trade winds to pass thru the unit. they also had the vents above the doors closed. I gave them the hotel room which has an air conditioner…after all it was their honeymoon!
The second complaint was from a second time renter who said the place was not as clean as it was the first time they stayed there. Turns out that my property manager was having trouble with the cleaning ladies doing quality work. Getting good cleaning help in Maui is a bit of a problem. We had the room re-cleaned right away.
The third complaint was from a recovering alcoholic who started drinking again while under medication and performed some unnatural acts on the beach area lawn. He was arrested and spent the night in jail and we had to evict him. He got a really good deal because I had auctioned off his room on eBay and since he had already checked in, I couldn’t rent to anyone else. He then stiffed me on his credit card charge so now I have everyone sign an agreement that if they check in, they pay the full amount just like every other hotel in the world.
I stayed at the Mana Kai one weekend back in 1979 and it was cool even then. We used to live on No ka Oi Rd. across the street and often came over for the ono Poki from the bar and to play on the awesome beach. I really miss the sunsets there and good music lofting out over the water. Some time I will make my way back from the mainland and visit. Thanks for the best childhood memories.
Thank you for sharing your condo with us. We brought our two girls to Maui and they had a wonderful time. Since my best friend and family living in Kihei, we spend a good deal of time with them. We cooked a few fresh fish meals here and it was great to have everything we needed to prepare dinner. We saw Halaukula (clouds mostly), deep sea fished and went to a luau. On our last day here, the beaches were closed because of a shark sighting. Lots of Whales too… they are beautiful.
Aloha Kathy Bruce Jamie and Christy
My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing time on our honeymoon in Maui. We loved hearing the surf during the night and the birds in the morning. Your condo is so well appointed -. everything we needed was and our fingertips. We’ve had a short visit by a gecko in the apartment one evening! Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us.
Mahalo.
